Then I got a couple of messages on facebook, but no email notification. Very bad.

So ssh’ed on to one of my exim frontends, and the logs look pretty bad:

Hmm this is bad. Basically I have three exim frontends, all feeding to my Exchange 2008 back end. Unfortauntely as this is my personal mail server, my pennies don’t spread to contingency on the backend, i.e. clustering.

So all the mail at the moment is safely queue’d on the frontends, until I fix the Exchange server.

Think it may have 1) run out of space 2) as it is M$ and been up a while, need a reboot.

Sending this via mobile (well via email hosted elsewhere) will be fun to see if it get’s into the exchange, and then to the blog. This actually wont post until I fix it all :P

First off, EDGE wouldn’t work at all. Emailed ‘Tech Support’ and they come back with the usual speal. 4 email later they blame it on my post code (Southend – SS1) as service there is ‘Variable’. Excellent I thought, I had spent the day in Central London. Only after about 5 or 6 emails did it actually get tranfered to ‘Tech Support’ and sorted.

Today I thought I would have a browse of ‘My O2′, and to my shock, apparently I have already used 5 sms’s, well I never, I haven’t even used it yet! Waiting until my number is ported over.

Hmm did I really make the right decision here?

We shall see what excuse they can come up with for my mystery sms’s, maybe it’s the post code again.

However I am constantly in two minds when it comes to the argument over apple, I have an iPhone, and a Macbook, which when I sit down and use think they’re brillient, and how could I dream of using anything else..

Until I go back to a non apple product, say my HTC TyTN. I was rummanging through my bag a minute ago and remembered I had it in there, and GPRS was driving me nuts on my iPhone, EDGE hardly ever seems to work. As I am using it however I remembered how nice it is to have full keyboard, and push mail…etc

Then I have my Dell D420, running the new FC9, which I’ve luckily got the inbuilt 3G modem working now. Another thing I love, I can be anywherèopen my tiny laptop, and have the net, no messing with dongles, bluetooth or anything like that…

But then I’ll go back to my mac and blissully forget all that.

Never seems to happen with Windows these days though, to think I used to detest *nix.

My question is, will I ever be satisified? And also where is the bacon roll shop? :P

I currently have two numbers you may have. I am closing both of those and opening a new ‘Simplicity’ account with o2, so I can hopefully use their edge network for my iPhone, as both T-Mobiles, and Vodafone’s, hardly ever works, actually not sure it ever.

Anyways the number I will be porting over is the number on my cards, cv…etc which is the one that ends 099.

It’ll be ported in a couple of days, so may be uncontactable for a few hours, but email is always a good alternative :)

I am starting to really, really hate public transport. This morning I had to get to work from work, I speciffically asked the conductor type person if the approaching train was theone I needed for Mansion House, ‘yeah mate that’s the one’. Foolish me believed him. It wasn’t so, almost doubled my travel time. Grr.

Busy busy day in the office, and seemed to go that extra bit slow, especially with a bit of a hang over, from last nights beer and poker. Which I did pretty poor at overall. I was doing really quite well, then got taken out, as I do most of the time :(

Was looking on t’internet today why my linux virtual machines keep losing their time. They have vmware tools, and ntp but they still seem to go all bizarre. There were a few options to change / add variables to the kernal in the grub.conf. I’ve given a couple a try, will letcha know how they get on.

Anyways must get back to the nastyness that is the sardine can / train.

Apparently a bit too foggy for the boat to run, so had to have a mad dash to catch a a tube, another tube, and two dlr’s. Still made it easily on time for the first day though. Which went really well :)
